Verifying your account
Golf Buds is about meeting real golfers in person, so every account is verified before it can create or join a round. If you signed up with an email address, you verify it by opening a link. If you signed up with a provider, the provider has already done that for you.
Why verification matters
Section titled “Why verification matters”Creating or joining a round needs a verified account. Golf Buds checks this on its servers as well as in the app, so it cannot be skipped.
If your account is not verified yet, the app stops you and shows this message:
Verify your email to continue.
Next to it, the app offers to resend the verification email, so you can finish without leaving the screen.
Email verified and Account verified
Section titled “Email verified and Account verified”Your profile shows one verification label, never both:
Email verifiedis shown when you confirmed your email address by opening the link we sent you.Account verifiedis shown instead when you are verified only through an Apple, Google, Facebook or GitHub sign-in. This includes accounts that have no email address.
Both labels mean the same thing for rounds: you can create and join them.
Resending the verification email
Section titled “Resending the verification email”If the email has not arrived, check your spam or junk folder first. Then:
-
Open Golf Buds. It shows the Check your email screen while your email is unverified.
-
Tap Resend verification email. You can send another one every 60 seconds.
-
Open the newest email and tap the link in it.
-
Return to Golf Buds and tap I’ve verified my email.
If you typed your email address wrongly, tap Change email on the same screen and sign up again with the right address.
Verification is not a handicap check
Section titled “Verification is not a handicap check”Verification only shows that you control your email address or your provider account. It says nothing about your golf. Your handicap status is shown separately on your profile, and Golf Buds never combines the two or lets one stand in for the other. Setting up your profile explains how handicaps work.
