Creating a round

Hosting a round tells other golfers where and when you are playing, and how many partners you are looking for. Golfers near you can then find it and join or ask for a place. You need a verified account to create a round.

  • Course: a UK course from the Golf Buds course list.
  • Timing: either an exact tee time, or a window with a start and an end if you are flexible. It must be in the future.
  • Open spaces: how many golfers you are looking for, from 1 to 3.
  • Handicap range: leave Any handicap on, or set a minimum and a maximum.
  • Joining policy: how golfers get a place, explained below.
  • Tee time with the course: whether you have already booked a tee time with the course. Choose Booked or Not booked yet.
  • Description: optional, up to 500 characters. Use it for anything golfers should know, such as where to meet.

Golf Buds does not book tee times, and it takes no payments. Rounds are arranged between golfers, and the app tells everyone so:

Golf Buds rounds are golfer-organised — not a tee-time booking.

Every round has one of two joining policies.

Instant join A golfer who meets the round’s requirements gets a confirmed place as soon as they join. Nothing needs to be approved.

Host approval A golfer sends you a request, with an optional message of up to 250 characters. You see it under Requests on the round and choose whether to approve or decline it. On a Host approval round, a golfer whose handicap is outside your range can still ask, and the decision is yours.

If you want to pause joining without cancelling, tap Stop taking new joins on the round. Golfers already on it can still see and use it, and you can tap Start taking joins again at any time.

  1. Open the Play tab and tap Create a round.

  2. Choose the course.

  3. Set the timing: a tee time, or the start and end of a window.

  4. Choose the open spaces and the handicap range.

  5. Pick the joining policy and say whether the tee time is booked.

  6. Add a description if you like, then create the round.

The round then appears under Your rounds, where you can edit or cancel it.
