Reporting and blocking

Golf Buds gives you two separate tools for when something is wrong. Reporting asks a Golf Buds moderator to look at something. Blocking keeps you and another golfer apart. Reporting never blocks anyone, and blocking never sends a report, so you choose each one on its own.

Reporting a golfer, a round, a post or a message

Section titled “Reporting a golfer, a round, a post or a message”

You can report a golfer from their profile or a round’s roster, and you can report a round, a chat message, a post, a comment or a course from where it appears. Look for the Report this action, such as Report this golfer or Report this message.

A report asks you to pick a reason from a short list, and you can add more detail if you like, up to 500 characters. When you send it, the report keeps a snapshot of what you reported, such as the text of a message at that moment. That way a moderator can still review it if the content is later changed or removed.

A Golf Buds moderator reviews every report about a golfer, a round, a post, a comment or a message. Course reports are used to check the course details. After you send a report, the app tells you:

Thanks — a Golf Buds moderator will review it. We won’t be able to tell you what they decide.

If a moderator removes a message, it is replaced in the chat with a note saying Golf Buds removed it.

To block someone, open their profile and tap Block golfer. Before you confirm, Golf Buds tells you exactly what will happen:

  • You disappear from each other’s profiles, searches, rosters and chats.
  • Neither of you can join a round the other is on.
  • If you are both on an upcoming round that you are not hosting, you leave it and they keep their spot.
  • If they are on a round you are hosting, they are removed from it.
  • If you are connected, the connection is removed.

Golf Buds enforces blocks on its servers, not just in the app. Rounds you have already played together stay in both playing histories.

You can see and lift your blocks under Blocked golfers on the Profile tab. Unblocking lets you see each other again, but a removed connection or a round you left does not come back.

If you delete your account, the blocks you placed are removed. A block another golfer placed on you stays in place.

Deleting an account does not erase reports or moderation records. The app lists this among the things Golf Buds keeps when you delete your account:

Reports and moderation records about your account are kept, so deleting can’t erase them.

Reports you filed about other golfers stay open, without your name on them.

Anything a deleted account left in other golfers’ records, such as a round they played or a comment on someone’s post, is shown as “Deleted golfer” instead of their name. Deleting your account explains the rest.
