Terms of service
Effective from 1 October 2026. Last updated 1 October 2026.
These terms of service explain who can use Golf Buds, what we expect from you when you host or join a round and meet other golfers in person, and what Golf Buds does and does not do. By creating an account or using the Golf Buds app, you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains how we look after your data.
“We”, “us” and “Golf Buds” mean the person named under Contact below. “You” means anyone who uses the app.
Who can use Golf Buds
Section titled “Who can use Golf Buds”You may have one Golf Buds account. Do not create another account for yourself, or one for someone else, and do not create a new account to get around a suspension.
Keep the information on your profile accurate, including your name and handicap, so other golfers know who they are playing with.
Your account
Section titled “Your account”You need to verify your account before you can create or join a round. You do this by opening the link in your verification email, or by signing up with Google, Facebook, GitHub or Apple. Verifying your account explains how.
Keep your sign-in methods secure and do not share them. You can connect or remove a provider, and add or remove a password, from Sign-in methods on the Profile tab. You always need at least one way to sign in.
You are responsible for what happens on your account. If you think someone else has used it, email support@golfbuds.co.uk.
Meeting other golfers
Section titled “Meeting other golfers”Meet at the course, not at someone’s home. If someone makes you feel unsafe, leave, then report them in the app. If anyone is in immediate danger, call 999.
Hosting and joining rounds
Section titled “Hosting and joining rounds”Treat the golfers you play with, and the course and its staff, with respect. Follow the course’s own rules and etiquette.
If you host a round, describe it honestly, review join requests fairly if you use host approval, and turn up. If you can no longer play, cancel the round in good time so the other golfers can make other plans.
If you join a round, turn up on time. If you can no longer play, leave the round in good time.
After the round, the host records who attended. Attendance and no-show records go on each golfer’s playing history. If you think a record is wrong, you can dispute it, and disputes and reports about a host who did not turn up are reviewed by a Golf Buds moderator.

Handicaps
Section titled “Handicaps”A handicap on Golf Buds is stated by the golfer themselves. It is never an official handicap, and Golf Buds does not check it with any golf body. Use it as a guide to finding a good match, not as a record you can rely on.
Content you post
Section titled “Content you post”You own the posts, comments, photos, videos and chat messages you share on Golf Buds. You give Golf Buds a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store and display them in the app so that the golfers they are meant for can see them. The licence lasts as long as the content stays on Golf Buds, including content kept after you delete your account as described in the privacy policy.
Do not post anything that is unlawful, abusive, threatening, hateful, sexually explicit or misleading, that harasses another golfer, or that infringes someone else’s rights, such as a photo you do not have permission to share.
Photos and videos are checked before they are published, and a file that fails the check is not published. A Golf Buds moderator may also remove content that breaks these terms.
Reporting, moderation and suspension
Section titled “Reporting, moderation and suspension”You can report a golfer, a round, a chat message, a post, a comment or a course from the app, and block anyone you do not want to hear from. Reports are reviewed by a Golf Buds moderator, not decided automatically.
After reviewing a report, a moderator may take no action, warn a golfer, quarantine content so it is hidden, or suspend an account. A suspended golfer cannot host, join, chat or post, is hidden from search, and any upcoming rounds they are hosting are cancelled.
Reports and moderation records are kept even if an account is deleted, as our privacy policy describes. Reporting and blocking explains how to report or block someone.
Deleting your account
Section titled “Deleting your account”You can delete your account at any time from the Profile tab. Your profile is hidden straight away, and you have 14 days to change your mind by signing back in. After that, the deletion is finalised.

What Golf Buds does not do
Section titled “What Golf Buds does not do”Golf Buds helps golfers find each other. It is not a booking service:
- Golf Buds does not book tee times. Arrange your tee time with the course.
- Golf Buds does not take payment. Pay the course, and settle any costs between golfers, directly.
- Golf Buds does not provide an official handicap.
- Golf Buds does not guarantee that a round goes ahead or that every golfer turns up.
Course data
Section titled “Course data”Golf Buds shows golf course details from OpenStreetMap:

The Open Database License requires us to credit OpenStreetMap and to offer the course database we build from it under the same licence. To ask for a copy, email support@golfbuds.co.uk. Course details are added by volunteers and can be incomplete or out of date, so check with the course before you travel.
Our liability
Section titled “Our liability”We provide Golf Buds with reasonable care and skill. We work to keep it running and accurate, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors.
Golf Buds is not responsible for what happens between golfers at a round, or for what other golfers say, post or do. That includes the conduct of anyone you meet through Golf Buds.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be excluded or limited under the law of England and Wales. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
Governing law
Section titled “Governing law”These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any dispute about them will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.

Section titled “Changes to these terms”When we change these terms, we update the date at the top of the page and add a row here.
